Erdoğan announced easing of quarantine measures

On Monday Ankara hosted the Cabinet of Ministers meeting under the chairmanship of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

During the meeting, the easing of restrictive measures against coronavirus was discussed, taking into account the distribution of provinces into 4 risk categories:

  • low (blue)

  • medium (yellow)

  • high (orange)

  • very high (red).

Following the discussion, President Erdoğan addressed the nation announcing the following decisions:

  • Curfew cancellation in low and medium-risk provinces

  • Maintaining Sunday curfews in high and very high provinces

  • The night curfew from 21:00 to 05:00 continues 

  • Low and medium risk provinces to start teaching middle and high school

  • Preschool, elementary, and grades 8 and 12 to start full-time education across the country

  • High and very high rish provinces are able to conduct exams only in lyceums

  • Restaurants, cafes, pastry shops and other catering places will be able to work from 7:00 to 19:00 with a 50 percent occupancy, except in provinces with a very high risk

  • Government agencies will return to normal working hours

  • Restrictions for citizens over 65 and under 20 will be lifted in low and medium risk provinces, and strengthened in high and very high risk provinces.

  • Playgrounds, swimming pools and similar facilities will be open from 9 am to 7 pm in low and medium-risk provinces. Meetings of nongovernmental organizations, professional associations, cooperatives and other organizations may be held in low, medium and high-risk provinces with a maximum of 300 participants

  • Weddings can be held in low and medium risk provinces, provided they do not exceed 100 people, and 50 people in high and high risk areas, and last no more than 1 hour
