Turkey expects a shortage of hotel places in resorts
A surge in domestic tourism may cause a shortage of hotel places in Turkish resorts.
The holy month of Ramadan has begun in Turkey, and will last from April 13 to May 12. During this period, most of the hotels are occupied by local customers. Yulkay Atmaka, President of the Association of Professional Hotel Managers of Turkey, confirmed that local customers are an irreplacable segment of the Turkish tourism industry. Moreover, for Turkish hotels, domestic tourists are more profitable than foreign ones, since Turks pay for reservations directly, without intermediaries in the form of tour operators. At the same time, the price of a hotel stay for the local customers is higher than for large foreign travel agencies.
Besides, in this situation, hotel customers receive the status of tourists and the right to go out during curfew.
